Cookies Policy

Last updated: May 7, 2026

1. Introduction

This Cookies Policy explains how Ciercle LLC ("we", "us", or "our") uses cookies and similar technologies on the Koziny website (koziny.com) and inside the Koziny mobile app. It should be read alongside our Privacy Policy, which describes how we handle personal data more broadly.

By continuing to use the Service, you consent to our use of cookies as described in this Policy, except where consent is required by law (EU / UK / EEA users) — in which case, optional cookies are loaded only after you give explicit consent through our cookie banner.

2. What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files that a website places on your device when you visit. They allow the site to remember your actions and preferences (such as language, login state, or items in a shopping list) over time, so you don't have to re-enter them every page.

Cookies are commonly grouped by:

  • Durationsession cookies (deleted when you close your browser) or persistent cookies (stored for a set period).
  • Originfirst-party cookies (set by koziny.com directly) or third-party cookies (set by another domain we use).
  • Purpose — strictly necessary, functional, analytics, or marketing.

3. Cookies we use

3.1 Strictly necessary cookies

These are required to operate the website and cannot be turned off. They include cookies that:

  • Maintain your session if you log into a Koziny account.
  • Remember security settings (e.g., CSRF token).
  • Record your cookie-banner choices so we don't show the banner every visit.

Legal basis: our legitimate interest in operating the Service securely. No consent required under GDPR / ePrivacy.

3.2 Functional cookies

Help the website remember your preferences (e.g., theme, language). These are optional and set only with your consent.

3.3 Analytics cookies

Help us understand how visitors use the website (which pages they view, how long they stay, where they came from) so we can improve it. Data is aggregated and never identifies you personally. These are optional and set only with your consent.

3.4 Marketing cookies

We do not use marketing or advertising cookies. We do not run targeted ads and we do not share your data with ad networks.

4. Third-party cookies

Some pages may load resources from third-party services that set their own cookies. We only use providers we believe handle data responsibly:

  • Google Fonts — loads our display and body typefaces. Subject to Google's Privacy Policy.
  • Amazon Web Services (AWS / S3) — serves our recipe images and static assets.
  • Google Sign-In / Apple Sign-In — only loaded if you choose to sign in with one of these providers.

Each third party has its own privacy and cookies policies. We do not control the cookies they set, but we choose providers that align with our privacy standards.

5. Mobile app & similar technologies

The Koziny iOS and Android apps do not use browser cookies. Instead, they use functionally similar technologies provided by the operating system:

  • Local storage / SharedPreferences — keep you logged in, cache recipes, remember your last meal plan, and store your cooking preferences offline.
  • Authentication tokens — issued after sign-in to keep your session active across app launches. Tokens are stored securely in the device keychain.
  • Image cache — recipe and ingredient photos are cached locally so the app stays responsive on weak connections.
  • Anonymous diagnostic identifiers — used to group crash reports and performance metrics. They cannot be tied back to your account.

We do not use Apple's IDFA (Identifier for Advertisers) or Google's Advertising ID. Koziny does not run advertising or tracking pixels.

6. Managing your cookies

6.1 In-website preferences

When you first visit koziny.com from the EU, UK, or EEA, we display a cookie banner where you can accept all cookies, accept only essential cookies, or open a preferences panel to choose category by category. You can revisit your preferences anytime by clicking the "Cookie settings" link in the footer.

6.2 Browser settings

Most browsers let you block or delete cookies through their settings. The exact steps differ by browser:

Note that disabling strictly necessary cookies may break features such as login, cart-style flows, or remembering your cookie choice.

6.3 Mobile app permissions

On iOS and Android, you can clear cached data, disable diagnostic sharing, or revoke the app's permissions in your device's Settings. To remove all locally stored data, uninstall the app or delete your account inside the app (Profile → Settings → Delete Account).

7. Changes to this policy

We may update this Cookies Policy from time to time, for example when we add a new analytics tool or remove an existing one. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page always reflects the current version.

For material changes (such as adding a new category of cookies), we will re-prompt EU / UK / EEA users for consent through the cookie banner before the change takes effect.
